since davy jones died today, i've had monkee's songs in my head. 


then wwl tv posted a clip of him and mickey dolenz on the angela show from 1994. i thought it looked familiar and sure enough...me and dad are at the 5:36 mark.

neglectful

i've been so neglectful of my blog for the last month or so. 


it's been busy here and seems to just keep getting busier! 


i'll keep this a fun blog today. 


dan, thomas and i had a blast at disney! it was so great having a vacation with just us! besides a few long weekends, that was a first for us...7 whole days, just us, doing what we want! of course we can't wait to go back!

 the best night! asleep at 6.30 during dinner, he slept through being picked up and put down in the stroller and the bus ride back to the hotel. left him for about an hour or so like this...he slept 12 hours that night!

This Moment

{this moment} -  A single photo -  capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to remember.  I'll try and keep this a weekly thing. 

Happily painting his salt dough halloween shapes. we crafted all week long. it took a few days for the dough to dry (some are still drying) and i'm sure it'll take another week for all that glopped on paint to dry! 


to make your own salt dough...


1 cup of fine grain salt
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 cup to 1 cup of water


mix salt and flour together. make a well in middle of the bowl and slowly pour in water. mix together and add more water or flour if it's too watery or not watery enough.


throw some flour down and roll out on a flat surface. 

hurricane rant...+6

i watched the hurricane activities on tv last week. i'm glad the news people let everybody know how horrible a hurricane can be and all the stuff that goes with it, but never once did they ask "are you going to rebuild?"  


i guess i'm still bitter about that, 6 years later. i'm still bitter at how much help people get now after watching the people of NOLA suffer for a week. yup, bitter.  


i'm still seeing people with all the flooding in the north. yes flooding is horrible. i had over 7-8 feet of water in my house in chalmette. i got to wade thru the katrina sludge trying to see if there was anything to salvage. 


gross and disgusting. i can still "feel" the way i slipped and squished in the muddiness that was the kitchen. 


so now there's an article on msnbc.com about people cleaning up and what they lost. 


first off they get to go home, what 2 days after a storm. 


NOLA peeps were gone at least 5 weeks, some still aren't home. 


they're getting help, NOLA peeps didn't/won't get that help. 


there's more....but yes, i'm still bitter.


especially now that there's a depression/tropical storm brewing in the gulf and we're getting rain all weekend.
