tv

i've always been a tv kid. it's always on 24/7.

the past 2 weeks since we've been home from baltimore, i've found i'm becoming less tolerant of it.

i've never minded the background noise while cleaning and whatnot, but omg i'm about ready to rip the little bit of hair i have out!!

thomas has taken over the t.v. that's fine. cartoon noise doesn't bother me.

it's the normal t.v. and the portable dvd player going at the same time with different shows. AHHHHHH!!

and if that's not bad enough, throw in when he takes "his" iphone and puts the sprout app on for even more cartoons.

when he's sleeping i must hide the dvd's and portable dvd player. i just never remember!

so right now i can hear him watching thomas in his room and i have no tv on in the bedroom.

i think i've shocked my husband!! <3

plus the portable dvd player can't get broken, we have at least 3 trips in the next year we'll need it for!

just 82 days until disney!!!

dining room

i'm working on getting our dining room painted. it's a boring ugly color...plain white or off white. whatever it is, it's ugly and boring. not to mention the ugly ass goldenrod curtains with shiny brass curtain rods.

the crazy bitch got those and just raved about how wonderful they were. *eye roll*  the damn curtain rods don't work. how can that be wonderful??

so here's part of the room... as seen thru thomas' eyes on top of the table. see those ugly curtains. they don't even stay in the curtain clips....

a better shot from his 2nd party. the chairs and putting green are no longer in there. the chaise and another chair are in front of the curtains now with a little rug (that won't match when i paint) and a little side table.

it's a pretty long skinny-ish room.

i hate those damn doors. i managed to get the one in this pic off it's track today. idk how, but i did. the only good thing they are for is when i'm crafting at the table, i can shut them and let sushi in there with me. she's not allowed upstairs. that's vester's territory.

oh and did i mention, i hate that damn carpet. who puts light beige in a dining room? crazy bitch!

here's what i've come up with so far...

glidden's paint and primer in one. because whatever crazy bitch painted the walls with in this house SUCKS UP ALLLLLLL the kilz. i could kilz and re-kilz and it still sucks it up.

the tester i bought of glidden p&p in eggshell, in 2 coats seems to not have gotten sucked up by the ugly paint. YAY! hooray!

for the ceiling...cause white is just too boring... arctic blue. it is paler on the paint swatch. think i may do the trim in it too.

the wall color...steel blue. mom said it looked more like a gunmetal blue. it's different and not purple ;)

and this is what started it. i bought this material during our evacuation to shreveport for hurricane gustave/ike. i was about 6.5 months preggo, so it's been awhile. i'm going to cover the chair seats in this.
it's a super close up of the fabric. i stole the pic online, so i guess i can't be too picky with it.

so now i just have to figure out curtains and the floor. for the floor i'm thinking acid wash the concrete and giving it a gloss finish.

curtains...i just want plain curtains that will actually open and close. none of that pull the cord and the damn things don't move like now.

guess i now i just need to go buy paint...

stop motion animation

since i've had my iphone, thomas has quickly taken to it. it didn't take him long to figure out the slide to unlock. didn't take him long to find the apps i d/l'd for him.

he played toddler teasers FOOOOREVERRRRR. it's a shape game. free. the voice asks you which shape is a circle? and you press it out of the 3 or more choices. if you get it right, it cheers and claps. sooo right up his alley, because he'd cheer and clap too.

i found the ABC's with animals and those cracked him up. man doing silly voices is hilarious. m mmmm mouse eek eek eek is the pattern. can you tell i've listened to that one a few times?

after a few months those toddler apps just weren't cutting it. he's moved on to angry birds. i guess i should go buy the 3 angry bird apps, just to have more games for him since he likes them so much.

angry birds comes in handy when he's fussing and we're out.

also sprout t.v. i can pretty much repeat the little clips on that app. at least it's not that damn kid caillou. i want to hurt that cartoon.

but the reason of this post, thomas has found the camera. i guess it was about easter time when he found it. he took over 100 paparazzi shots of himself. i have countless pictures d/l'd to my iphoto of his little head, face, legs, the floor, table. whatever may fascinate him at that moment.

edit to add...my awesome friend tommy sent me a gif of these...

so here's the latest batch. it's a short gallery of his work from yesterday.

this is the 2nd set. moved locations and included more than just his little face.

pure joy and bliss!

so it's been almost 2.5 months since i've been home. it's been wonderful! i can say that i'm so happy and content.

seriously my high blood pressure, that i've had for about 8 years now is in the super normal range. even in the middle of my head spinning, thought i was going to die kidney stone trip to the ER, my pressure was 121/78. 138-143/92 was my normal for years. in the 3 dr's appts and my non-surgical-surgical kidney stone procedure since, it was 121/78.

that's how much stress my last job was putting on me. i'm sooooooooooo glad that i'm not there anymore. they did boost my resume up awesomely. thanks LPA for 2 first place awards, a second place award and 2 3rd places. it looks awesome on my resume and it looks like you a damn fuckin' fool for getting rid of an award winning designer. so :P

so, the first month i was home, a lot got done! i re-arranged our formal dining room/living room. i still don't like it all that much, but i'm hoping a coat of paint and recovering the chairs will make me like it more. i really want to rip up the nasty ass almost white carpet crazy bitch (former owner), put in.

WHO PUTS ALMOST WHITE CARPET IN A DINING ROOM???

crazy bitch, that's who. i need to write a post just about crazy bitch.

so after re-arranging that room, i took a few convention center jobs. i LOVE LOVE LOVE that job. it also pays more than when i'm a graphic designer. i love my little old ladies. they are so wonderful.

they were so excited to have me back working. they wrote up a nice little report on me for future conventions. something that never has happened at any other place i've worked. everybody at the nomcvb is so nice and sweet. sure there are a few that i steer clear of because they are bat shit crazy, but i'd say that 95% of the ladies are wonderful!

i also picked up a freelance job for a new magazine. i'm doing ads and should be starting layout soon. that is the most awesomest job!! i don't have to go into an office. nobody talks to me like i'm shit like at my last job. awesome! and i can do it from the comfort of my big ole lazy boy!

except last month when we were traveling in baltimore and i had to do it up there. yikes! and thanks to five guys somewhere in tennessee for having free wifi so i could do some work on the road.

with being home, i also don't have to worry about missing thomas' speech therapy. so don't have to feel guilty about leaving work to be with my kid. suck it work assholes, you can't make me feel guilty for being a mom and having to be there for my son.

speech therapy is coming along. he's babbling more. says a few new words. his favorite word is help. or halp in his southern alabama drawl. we had to go last month for orleans parish school testing. that's where he has to transfer when he turns 3 in dec.

OPSB thought he was retarded. i don't understand how when you said does not talk compares to doesn't understand or complete full on retard. because that's exactly what they thought. i love how i said DOES NOT TALK, IS NOT VERBAL and they say name this. dumb fucking bitches.

once i got him to point out the letters of the alphabet, they started to realize, oh, he really doesn't talk. duh. so he ran circles around those assholes at the SB office. we find out in a month or so when he'll start going to speech at the nearest school (harte) and what the schedule will be.

i really don't know where the last 2 months or so have gone! between speech therapy and our trip to baltimore, idk!

we do kiddie story time at the library on wednesdays. and run little errands so we don't go crazy sitting at home.

trains take up most of our days. thomas and all his friends are usually circling the coffee table, flying off because there's so many and going so fast!

thomas, one of his godmothers, her cousin and i took him to the beach for the 1st time. he adjusted to the sand pretty well. the water, not so much. until it was almost time to leave when we were looking for shells. then he decided he wanted to splash at the shore.

i really need to post more on here. maybe when i get my etsy shop up. i'm also working on starting a jewlery/craft spot on etsy.

guess i'll leave you with a few of my favorite pic's over the last 2 months....
